Workable's core strength is distribution. Posting to many job boards from one place, with the aggregation and sourcing tooling around it, solves the problem most acutely felt by companies without a recruiting team: nobody knows the role exists.
It is pitched at SMB and lower mid-market, is quicker to get running than enterprise ATS products, and has added AI features to the workflow over time.
The limitation shows up on the other side of distribution. Reaching more candidates produces more applications, and more applications produce a screening problem. A hiring manager who posted to fifteen boards and received four hundred applications has traded a sourcing problem for a triage problem, which is the usual point at which a Workable alternative gets researched.
